Alissa grew up in Costa Rica and moved to Orlando, Florida when she was 5 years old. At the age of 6, she became passionate for gymnastics and started to practice here at Orlando Gymnastics! Her favorite memory while competing was getting a score of 9.825 on beam, her favorite event, and getting first place. Alissa was a gymnast for about 7 years and competed up to level 6. After taking a break from gymnastics, she began competitive swimming and cheerleading at her school. She finds gymnastics special because of the amount of diversity in the sport and the sense of family that is created within every team.
In high school, Alissa took 2 years of early childhood classes to gain more knowledge in the childcare field. She plans to pursue journalism when she gets to college. Alissa enjoys surfing, reading, and traveling in her free time. She loves making connections with each individual gymnast and seeing their excitement when achieving new skills. She has always felt like Orlando Gymnastics was her second home and she's so glad to be coaching!
